Westfield London – Ariel Way & Bus Station Lighting Upgrade

For thousands of shoppers, staff and commuters, Ariel Way and the bus station are the first and last part of Westfield London they see, day and night. The area was lit by old CDM-T discharge lamps that used a lot of energy, needed regular lamp changes and lost output as they aged. Westfield wanted a lower-energy, lower-maintenance solution with a warmer light that reduces its environmental impact, installed one for one in the existing positions.

Solutions Provided

Lighting Design

EOS carried out a full lighting design of Ariel Way and the bus station before any product was installed. The design confirmed that replacing each CDM-T luminaire one for one with LED would meet British Standard requirements, so no extra fittings or changes to the layout were needed.

Eclatec Moana LED Luminaire

Each CDM-T fitting was replaced with an Eclatec Moana LED luminaire, cutting energy use by 65% and removing the need for regular lamp changes. The Moana's aluminium body, tempered glass diffuser and IP66 and IK10 ratings make it robust enough for a busy road and bus station, giving long-term, reliable performance.

The new luminaires run at 3000K, a warm white chosen for environmental reasons. Warmer light reduces the blue content of night-time lighting, which is kinder to the surrounding environment, while still giving clear, comfortable light for people walking, waiting and driving.
