EOS Lighting Solutions upgraded the centre management suite at Westfield Stratford City with a one-for-one LED replacement, cutting lighting energy use by 60%. Delta 66 prismatic LED panels on DALI now deliver British Standard compliant, low-glare (UGR <19) light, and new Escape Dot emergency luminaires meet the latest regulations.
Every day, the team that runs Westfield Stratford City plans, meets and works at screens in its main centre management suite. The existing 4x18W T8 fluorescent modulars used a lot of energy, needed regular tube changes and gave a dated, uneven light. Westfield wanted lower energy and maintenance costs and a brighter, low-glare office for screen-based work, delivered as a straight one-for-one swap within the existing ceiling.
Objectives
- Replace ageing fluorescent lighting
- Energy & maintenance reduction
- British Standard compliant lighting levels with a one-for-one replacement
- Low glare (UGR <19) for screen-based work
- Flexible DALI lighting control
- Emergency lighting compliant with the latest regulations
Solutions Provided
Lighting Design
EOS carried out a full lighting design of the suite before specifying any product. The design confirmed that a one-for-one replacement would meet British Standard requirements for illuminance, uniformity and glare, so every new panel could sit in the existing ceiling position with no extra fittings or ceiling alterations.
Delta 66 Prismatic LED Panel
Each 4x18W T8 modular was replaced with the 29W EOS Delta 66, a 600 x 600 edge-lit LED panel with a prismatic diffuser. The prismatic diffuser controls glare to achieve a Unified Glare Rating (UGR) below 19, the recommended limit for offices and screen-based work, while the edge-lit design spreads light evenly across the panel face.
DALI Lighting Control
Every panel is connected to a DALI control system, giving individual control of each luminaire. Lighting can be dimmed, grouped and adjusted to suit different rooms and tasks, and the system can be extended or reconfigured in future without rewiring.
Escape Dot Emergency Lighting
To complete the upgrade, EOS replaced the existing emergency lighting with the Escape Dot, a discreet, low-profile emergency luminaire. Escape routes and open areas across the suite now meet the latest emergency lighting regulations, keeping staff safe in the event of a power failure.
